If both players are signed, the investment exceeds 200 million euros which doesn’t count for salaries which will top 100 million

The club will have to sell Hazard and Jovic to raise the cash to reinforce other positions

After spending around 300 million euros on five players in 2019 — Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Rodrygo Goes, Florentino Pérez has been tightening his belt for the last two seasons. He’s had to do it primarily with the intention of making a Galactico singning. But the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus also forced his hand into not going for any haphazard signing. However, for the seven seasons preceding the pandemic, Real Madrid spent close to a billion euros on signings, only playing second fiddle to Barcelona.

It didn’t take too long for Perez to get back in the spending mode. He offered 180 million euros last summer to PSG for Mbappe, but his offer was rejected. With the Frenchman now expected to be a free agent, that money is expected to be invested this summer to ensure the arrival of the two giants, Mbappe and Haaland. Although this figure doesn’t include the salaries, it only remains for both players to confirm that they want to play for Madrid to close the double deal.

If Mbappé sticks to his stance of not renewing with PSG(they’ve made a huge offer) he would arrive for free, with Madrid having to pay him a hefty signing bonus, which pales in comparison to what they would have to pay if they bought him outright from PSG. Madrid can’t pay him anywhere near what PSG is offering, but he has a dream and they say that it is to defend the Madrid shirt(his favorite childhood club). Although the amount of the signing bonus is unknown, experts consider that it will be in the range of 50–80 million euros.

Haaland, with whom certain sections of the media speculate he’s already closed an agreement, will be more expensive. In addition to the 75 million release clause for the transfer, added payments will have to made to the player’s agent Mino Raiola and his father. The amount is not exactly known either, but it is speculated that it could be around 60 million euros, 30 for each one. The deal is expected to be valued at around 130 million euros.

Now come the salaries. 100 million euros between the two. Real Madrid would offer around 30 million net for Mbappe, which makes it between 50 and 60 gross per season, and the Norwegian around 25, another 50 gross. That tops a 100 million. That leaves no room to reinforce other positions, especially the midfield. Madrid also plan on adding depth to the defence and are scouting the market for full-backs. The two players who will most likely exit are Hazard and Jovic, without ruling out Asensio in case a tempting offer arrives.
