Real Madrid is looking for a replacement for Marcelo, whose contract ends in June, for next summer. From England they point out that Los Blancos has been interested in Kieran Tierney, the 24-year-old left-back who plays for Arsenal. Tierney arrived at Arsenal in 2019 from Celtic Glasgow and his market value is around 30 million euros.

The Scottish left-back has turned heads with Arsenal since a £25m transfer in 2019, and his form in the English Premier League has put him on the radar of one of the world’s biggest clubs.

It’s good news for Premiership leaders Celtic, who retain a 15 per cent sell-on fee in a player who would likely cost in excess of £50m. That would net his former club a fee of around £7.5m.

Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Tierney and he signed a bumper new deal last year to remain in north London until 2026. Tierney has seemingly already explained to Arsenal fans why he won’t be moving to Real Madrid despite rumours that he’s on the club’s radar. But when Real Madrid come calling, things usually do change.
